Access

The Access Fund is THE nationwide organization working to acquire and maintain access rights for climbers. The website includes information about the work they do (including working to prevent closures at the New River Gorge), a schedule of planned events, and the opportunity to join.
The New River Alliance of Climbers is another group working hard to keep climbing access at the New River Gorge. They're also working on a huge project to repair/replace any bad anchors out at the Gorge. If you spot any you can report them at the web site and they'll be put on a list of anchors to fix.
The Carolina Climber's Coalition lists information about closures and events in Carolina climbing areas.

Routes

Dr. Topo allows you to download free topos for several nearby areas including McAfee's Knob, Hawk's Nest, and sections of the New River Gorge.
The Lynchburg Climbing Club has pdf's for a few smaller areas, including one of the better guides for Iron Gate.

Climbers' Websites

Jason Kehl's website has numerous photos of his climbing and art as well as info about where he's been and upcoming shows.
Distilled Bouldering is a blog put up by Adam with info and photos about bouldering he's done in the area.
All Climbing is another blog by a local climber, Tom, with posts and articles about recent climbing events and info.

General Climbing Information

RockClimbing.com has an enormous forum with posts on just about any climbing topic you can think of. Just remember that not everything you read is always true. They also have an extensive list of climbing areas broken up by state and a huge number of user submitted photos.
8a has a large amount of information about climbers, including rankings for competitions and ascents. Also has interviews, and forums.
ABC's of Rock Climbing has a lot of good information for beginning climbers. It has sections introducing the different types of climbing, techniques, and training tips.
Spadout has a number of articles about climbing, including several useful for beginning climbers.
John Gill's website has some interesting historical information about bouldering and climbing.
Crimpermag.com has some photos, articles, and interviews.
